The third lightpost up was my turnaround point for my 18 mile run today. The next nine miles were only a little less fun than the first.
Who would have thought I would EVER run 18 miles in my life?!? I had never even walked that far before. Where did I come up with this silly hobby?

The new tv and console finally arrived today! Not the most artistic photo, but whatever. I'm just bragging ;)
Now we are just waiting for our new HD cable box and we will never have to leave the house again!

Tonight we went to watch the Florida Marlins play the Washington Nationals.
Other than the sweltering heat, it was a pretty good time. I'm not a huge Marlins fan since they beat the Cleveland Indians in the World Series in 1997, but I still love going to games and I had never been to Dolphin Stadium. Nothing beats a baseball game in the summer with a hotdog, bag of peanuts and ice cold beer.
Why is it that hotdogs taste better at baseball games? Maybe it's the beer.

As I sat watching the All-Star Game tonight on TV being played at AT&T Park in San Francisco, I began feeling a bit nostalgic for the vacation we took there a year ago this month. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. If I had a ton of money (and a job) I would move there in a heartbeat. I'd need the ton of money since unfortunately it's one of the few cities that's even more expensive to live in than Miami.

Finally, the second to last installation date on the Burger King Hall of Fame came and went today without a hitch.
After eight long months of conceptualization, researching, illustrating and designing coat of arms, interviewing BK Founders, writing biographies, photographing franchisees and The King, round after round of revisions, laying out schematics, picking out drapes, paint, frames, woods, finishes, lighting, and carpets, choosing and laying out product shots, hiring and firing vendors, relaying out schematics, problem solving after making wrong decisions, crying, complaining, whining and much, much more I am ALMOST done with this project.
And it doesn't even look half bad.
Only two more oil paintings, coat of arms and plaques to install after approval and I will be done. :)
Until they induct a new franchisee next year. :(

Today we spent the afternoon in Shark Valley.
Shark Valley is an area in the northern region of the Florida Everglades where you can rent bikes and ride a 15 mile loop down a bikepath, hike throughout various trails or take a tram tour. Today we decided to bike. Normally, the place is crawling with gators and other various wildlife. But since it has been raining so much lately, the animals have spread out and we only saw a few little gators, turtles and different birds and fish along the path.
Oh, and bugs. Many, many HUGE swampy bugs. They enjoyed landing on the front of my sunglasses and making me scream like a little girl as I almost crashed my bike...more than once.
All was well until we headed headed back from the observation deck and got caught in a sudden thunderstorm. Nothing like sitting on a old, rickety, rolling lightning rod through the FLAT everglades in the middle of a lightning storm to get you cycling as fast as you can. Especially when you are the tallest thing around for MILES and lightning and thunder are all you can see or hear through a thick blanket of rain.
Ahhh, good times.
Here are a few more pictures from our afternoon in the Everglades...before I had to save the camera from the rain. In the photos taken from the observation deck, you can see what looks like fog rolling in. It's not fog though, it's rain. A lot of it. Coming right at us.
