October 2nd, 2007 - Tuesday
Apparently while I was out of town in Sarasota this weekend enjoying the unseasonally mild tempuratures, Miami was getting pounded by a torrential downpour.
It seems as though the satelite dish on top of the building I work in got struck by lightning, which ripped a hole in the roof and flooded the offices. This is what I saw when I came into work on Tuesday.
Nothing but ripped up carpet, dehumidifiers, and wires as far as the eye could see. Luckily there was no damage in the studio so our work flow wasn't interupted besides the servers and internet getting disconnected every few minutes. Oh and the power surges from all the dehumidifiers being plugged in.
Now that there is a hole in the roof and it is 190 billion degrees outside, it is hot as hell in here. Plus, the dehumidifiers are making me itchy. Sigh.
I love living in the tropics. At least it wasn't a hurricane. Again.

I was in Sarasota again this weekend to visit my friends amongst other things.
When I came home, I found this picture on my computer that I had taken awhile ago when I was in Sarasota. It pretty much sums up where I am in my life right now.

This week was weird. I took no pictures because I was pretty uninspired. Instead here is a series of light exposures from a couple of years ago. They are fun. Alot more fun than this week was.

September 8th, 2007 - Saturday
We flew back from California on the red-eye Friday night and got back early Saturday morning. While it is nice to come home, this is one vacation that could have lasted a bit longer.
Since I took over 600 pictures while I was there, I am sure to be posting more from my trip for awhile.

September 7th, 2007 - Friday
There is a Nval Base next door to the Hotel and early in the morning we would see bootcampers out running on the beach and practicing swimming drills in the freezing ocean...no fun.
This guy was dead last and getting an EARFUL from the guy in the truck who reminded me of Louis Gossett Jr. in An Officer and a Gentleman.
Poor guy.
Oh, and when they were done running up and down the beach they each had to run into the water and lay down, get soaking wet, then run a few more laps up and down the beach.
I knew I didn't sign up for the military for a reason.

The Hotel Del Coronado was amazing!
J's parent's surprised us with a room upgrade overlooking the Pacific Ocean :)
The weather was perfect, the room was awesome and we had nothing to do except hang out by the beach, enjoy happy hour, watch the sunset and relax.

September 5th, 2007 - Wednesday
As J and I were walking through Seaport Village in San Diego we randomly came across the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum.
Since we had no plans we decided to check it out. Now, I am not a big military/boat/plane buff, but this thing was pretty interesting.
We toured the ENTIRE boat that carried up to 4500 people. We toured where they lived, ate, showered, cooked, did laundry, played, the brig (that's slammer to you and me), where they navigated the boat, the steam and engine rooms, Captain's Quarters, even where they planned the strikes in Desert Storm. Then we went up top and toured the planes and the air traffic control area.
It was the one educational trip for the vacation. We try to put down the beer and forks of food while on vacation long enough to to learn at least ONE new thing. It's a little vacation rule we have :)
