4 hours of sleep @ 6a.m. + 78 degrees + 89% humidity + 12 miles = Good times.
After the run, my hands were so swollen from the heat I felt like I had lil' sausages for fingers. Notice the time on my watch. Under two hours...not too shabby for a 12 miler in Miami in late June.
It's unfortunate you can not see the amount of sweat pouring from my body in this picture. I felt like some sort of science experiment. My shorts are actually not that dark...they are soaked. I had just wrung them out.
Looove those Miami summers! :)

This is Blizzy and Moxie, my parents dogs. They are always very sleepy and love to nap in the sun.
Blizzy is having surgery on Thursday to remove a growth inside his mouth. He really is one of the sweetest dogs around, hopefully it will go well.
*UPDATE - 7/01/07*
Blizzy's operation was a success and NO cancer!!! :)
Thanks for the well-wishes!

I hadn't been up to Tampa in awhile. I lived there back in the mid-late nineties and only venture up occasionally to visit old friends. Driving up today, as soon as I heard AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne on every radio station and saw this sign, I knew I was back. Back in Black, baby!
It pretty much sums it up.
Then we spent the rest of the day at Busch Gardens. Other than the rides being shut down most of the day for thunder/lightning and the 158 degree heat, we still had a good time hanging out with all the animals.

I found out today that my brother has to go to Iraq in eleven days. He will be at an airbase in Balad, Iraq and will miss the next six months of his three children's lives. His wife is also in the Air Force. Hopefully, they will not need her as well.
I understand that this is the life he signed up for eighteen years ago when he joined the military, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Today was this quarter's portfolio review at my alma mater, The Miami International University of Art and Design. This is the day when all the different majors showcase their best work for potential employers just hours before graduation. Since it has been ages since I had been there and was feeling a bit nostalgic along with Juan and Mercy (who I also went to school and work with), we decided to trek downtown to check out the work and see some old friends and teachers.
It was nice to see everyone and roam the old halls with them, just like we did what seems like forever ago.

The Royal Poinciana trees around here are insane lately. Most of them are red, but this is a yellow one I found on campus while wondering around.
Thanks to Lan for the tips on where to find them.

I spent the morning on South Beach with J and my Rebel. We walked 6 miles then ate waffles at Big Pink. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from the morning walk.
Here are some more.

This is the street outside my front door, a very busy road that runs through South Miami.
There are often late night minor car accidents and DUIS right at this very spot while red and blue lights swirl around my bedroom. It happens more than you would think.
I can't wait to have a home tucked safely away from traffic.
