August 3rd, 2008 - Sunday

We happened to stumble upon one of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen when we turned down a deserted (so we thought) road into the woods the other day. It was so amazing we went back the next day and hiked for two hours.

Wissahickon Valley Park is part of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. The park runs 7 miles along Wissahickon Creek and extends from Chestnut Hill all the way to Manayunk. Forbidden Drive is a wide gravel road closed to automobile traffic, which is filled with runners, walkers, bikers and horses. At various points along Forbidden Drive you can catch various, rugged trails (over 50 miles worth).

Needless to say, this is my new favorite place. I will take this over a beach any day.
